Cébé… from the initials of Carl Benz!

It was after a specific request by Mr. Carl Benz, the famous founder of Mercedes Benz and sports car driver, that CB became Cébé. At that time, sports cars still had no windscreen and he asked them to create made-to-measure driving goggles for him and his dog !

During the forties, Cébé extended its business.

It had been exclusively involved in the sunglasses market but the company now entered the winter sports sector. Cébé quickly became the leading ski goggle producer in France and one of the leaders in Europe. Its know-how in terms of sunglasses no longer had to be proven! Its heyday was during the late seventies and early eighties when Cébé, now synonymous with excellence in French glasses, was exporting large volumes all over the world.
